Life is Life.

Being courageous, while confused, has gotten me everywhere.

Kate Brenton,  Lomilomi Practitioner, Ed.M., educator, and writer of the unspoken, has committed to sharing the philosophies shared with her by her Kumu, Alva James Andrews the best she can. A former East Coast public educator and corporate trainer who walked into a different world and stayed there, she now carries forward the cultural mindset of Pā Ola Hawaiʻi as an alaka'i, practitioner + lifelong student. The guiding principles of her work are to be your best every day (and that will vary) and that we are a part of one human family, all the rest grows from there.

Gratitude

"Lomilomi is truly a holistic healing art.  Before I received the gift of lomi lomi I read a short article about the art and its multifaceted perspective on health.  It values health in the mind as well as in the body.  It seemed to me a dream combination of talk therapy, chiropractic and massage. Before my lomilomi I experienced anxiety related rashes, difficulty breathing, social anxiety and tightness in my hips. Afterwards I felt like I could really breathe deeply for the first time in about a year.  Letting go of the things we talked about in the session, allowed me to make space in my life for addressing the root cause of my anxiety.  That time of deep connection with mind and body provided me with perspective on how to move forwards in my process of creating meaningful friendships and not living in guilt.  After the massage and stretching the tightness in my hips was alleviated, the stagnant energy in my spine freed, leaving my whole body vibrating with energy. As I left the table, I felt like I was floating, but at the same time deeply grounded in my Self.  It was unlike any other therapy or treatment I have experienced."  C.B. Eugene, OR

Inspiration

"I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will ... pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings."  - Henry David Thoreau
